MAYNILA IS YOUR GATEWAY TO THE CULINARY WORLD OF THE PHILIPPINES – IT’S WHERE YOU’LL DISCOVER, LEARN AND EXPERIENCE EVERYTHING THERE IS ABOUT FILIPINO FOOD
We host, organise and participate in events where the adventurous and curious palates in Great Britain can taste and experience Filipino food through different dining experiences – from popup restaurants, supper clubs, street food markets and festivals, cookery schools and private dining.
maynila’s founders, Charl Asuit and Roni Bandong met a gathering of University of the Philippines’ (UP) alumni in London. They both served on the first Board of Directors of the UK chapter of the UP Alumni Association. They began an A to Z adventure of food either before or after the Board meetings when it struck them that Filipino food was little or not regarded at all by most people in Britain. This set them on their journey to change that. They’re on a mission to put the Philippine cuisine mainstream and on the general consciousness of the British public.
